Born in Italy in 1983, Roberto Guarino established Hikers of Iceland in 2024, turning his passion for the great outdoors into an emerging adventure company. Roberto began his guiding career in 2016, leading hiking tours in the lush landscapes of Costa Rica, where a friend recognized his natural talent for connecting with fellow nature enthusiasts. Before embarking on this adventurous journey, he traveled extensively, working in sales and human resources after earning a degree in Law. However, as he puts it, “life becomes overwhelming when you ask yourself the wrong questions.”
A pivotal moment in Roberto’s life came during a transformative vacation to Iceland, where the country’s rugged beauty and stunning landscapes ignited a profound passion within him. Captivated by Iceland’s unique terrain, he soon made the bold decision to relocate, immersing himself in the breathtaking scenery that the country offers. His love for nature has inspired him to lead a variety of outdoor activities, from exhilarating glacier hikes and snowmobiling adventures to biking, kayaking, skiing, and, most notably, mountain hiking.
At Hikers of Iceland, Roberto’s mission is to help hikers build confidence through orienteering and hiking skills while also learning and growing through the experiences of others. Roberto believes that understanding navigation skills is essential for any adventurer, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced hiker. By providing hands-on guidance in orienteering techniques, he empowers participants to confidently explore Iceland’s diverse landscapes while ensuring their safety.
